Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do I get Japanese Language support for Windows? To get Japanese language support for English versions of Windows you will need additional software. Two that we have tried are Japanese Partner 2000 and KanjiKit. KanjiKit has the better interface but has problems with word wrap in some applications including TJP's Language Partner and Language Evaluator programs. If you only need Japanese font support for Word 2000, Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater, Outlook Express 4.0 or greater, or Outlook 98 check out http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/features/ime.asp to download Microsoft's Global IME (input method editor) for Japanese. For more information check out UW's East Asia Center East Asian Language Computing or the Japanese Computing FAQ. How do I get and use Japanese email? The simplest way to get Japanese email is to get an account at a web site that offers Japanese email such as jmail. To write Japanese email you'll need to download Microsoft's Global IME for use with Internet Explorer. Another method is to use Outlook Express along with Microsoft's Global IME. This method allows you to use your current email account for Japanese email. If you have a recent PC, you should already have Outlook Express on your computer. If not, you can download it as a part of Internet Explorer at: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ Japanse Computing resourcesFor Japanse Computing resources, try the following links: Last updated on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 9:00:02 AM |
