Instructor:  Masashi Kato

Monday/Wednesday/Friday   9:00 – 10:20

Loew Hall 219

This is an intermediate-level Japanese language course intended for Japanese-descended students who have strong everyday conversation skills but want to develop solid reading and writing skills.  In this course, students review and strengthen their knowledge of grammar and build up kanji compounds through reading authentic materials on familiar topics.

Skills to analyze sentence structures for accurate interpretation are introduced. Students also learn conversation skills necessary in business situations, including appropriate speech levels,  and the cultural concepts underlying those situations.

Admission will be determined based on an oral interview.  Contact Masashi Kato at (206)543-8524 or mkato@u.washington.edu for an interview appointment.
