Language Evaluator

Language Evaluator (for Windows OS) is a unique multimedia feedback tool which assists students review their oral performances. Students can review their conversations and presentations with the teacher's comments linked to the video segments which contain problems. With Language Evaluator, students can

  • review their performances with simple and quick operations
  • discover their own errors with guiding information
  • learn the right ways of saying with written and/or oral comments linked to the segments which contain errors
  • can focus on critical errors by looking at the error level indicators
  • can record their voices for self-review and/or the teacher's review

With LE Author (Language Evaluator's commenting tool), teachers can

  • provide feedback without interrupting students' performances
  • make comments with easy operations
  • provide oral comments as well as written comments
  • tell students which errors are critical
  • receive students' voice files to check their improvement
  • see and print out comments summaries

LE is language-independent; it can be used for any language instruction as far as the language is supported by the computer platform. Additional information:

System Requirements

General: In order to use this release of Language Evaluator, you will need a PC computer with a CD-ROM drive, 32 MB of available RAM, and sound-input capability to record your voice. The computer should have the following:

  • Windows 98, NT 4 or later.
  • QuickTime 5 or later, which can be downloaded at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
  • Processor: Any recent PC will probably be fine ( > 200 Megahertz)
  • RAM: At least 64MB RAM
  • 20 MB available hard disk space
  • Video: XGA (1024 x 768) or higher resolution monitor will work with LP
  • Sound: Because of Language Evaluator's use of sound, a sound card and speakers or headphones are required. Similarly, we recommend that you have a microphone available to enable the user to record their voice.
