The various colleges and schools which form the University of Washington provide a number of programs which focus on Japanese language, law, society, culture, and business.

School of Business

The School of Business has several programs which allow students to integrate Japanese studies with business. They are:

• CIBER - The Center for International Business Education and Research.
• Certificate of International Studies in Business - This is a program for undergraduate students.

Jackson School of International Studies

The Jackson School offers the following programs for students wishing to specialize in Japan:

• Japan Studies Program general information.
• Bachelor's Degree in Japan Studies - This is an interdisciplinary program that provides concentrated Japanese language and area training.
• Master's Degree in Japan Studies - This is a comprehensive program of study that includes classes on Japan in economics, political science, history, Asian languages and literature, art and art history, law, anthropology, and business.

School of Law

The School of Law houses one of the nation's leading programs in Asian and Comparative Law. Designed both for legal professionals from East Asia interested in the comparative study of American law, and for language-qualified legal professionals from the United States and other countries outside of Asia, the LL.M. degree program provides advanced, intensive instruction and research opportunities for those who intend to pursue a career in trans-Pacific legal affairs. College of Arts and Sciences

Asian Languages and Literature - The Department of Asian Languages and Literature offers instruction in the principal languages and literatures of Asia, including East, Southeast, Central, and South Asia. Emphasis is placed on the roles of these languages within the cultures they serve as well as on linguistic, textual, and literary analysis.

Language Learning Center

The LLC provides media services which allow students to expand their appreciation of language and culture.
